RIP, Qt and KDE.

of all the fights in open source world, the fights over desktop environment draws blood only next to the holy war, namely the battle between THE two godly editors, vim and emacs. But now of the two major desktop environment, gnome somewhat leans towards Mono, a proprientary framework and the other one, KDE, is now "owned" by Nokia. Oh my! How I hope it is sun instead of nokia. Sun will at least keep the GPL (general public license), but with nokia I expect that Qt and KDE will move to LGPL. What a shame.

折腾了一会儿Debian

想把vim升级倒7.0, 可vim7还没进stable和testing, 试试强迫用unstable的, 结果dependency太多, 连X11-common都要用unstable的.

然后我就动了心, 想把我的整个stable(sarge)系统端到testing, 这下完了: kernel, locale, 和xorg出了问题. 听说好多人xfree86升级xorg完Xserver就完了, 吓得我又downgrade会sarge了(downgrade还挺不容易的). 我不记得我当年为了nvidia的显卡有没patch kernel了, 这个新kernel还要不要patch呢? 烦....

真烦人阿, 去年折腾suspend to disk也是这样不了了之, 那次简直是dreadful, 我pars, compile了无数kernel和acpi table之类的玩意, 最后suspend了居然不come back, 默哀ing.

以后我再也不折腾系统拉, 这次又一失足成千古恨. 算了, 总比上次linux kernel panic, grub同时坏了, 我linux和windows都进不去, 完全就是unbootable好.

BTW:
MSN space is not fully compatible with firefox. FF breaks down three
times when I was writing this entry. It even does not allow me to
delete characters!!!!
